Mobile Game Concepts

A small selection of mobile game ideas that I produced to practise my Aftereffects skills. While they may be simple ideas, I am proud of these little animations as they represent the rekindling of my love for animation as well as a desire to further develop my skills.

Loki's Last Stand

Loki is an unlucky viking. Ship wrecked amidst an epic sea battle he has one choice, to fight his way to glory! This simple idea served as my re-entry into the world of After Effects animation.

9 Lives

Another project that started as an excuse to hone my animation skills, '9 lives' is an endless side scrolling platform that took inspiration from the likes of 'Altos adventure' and 'limbo'. (remember when silhouette games were all the rage, clearly I do!)

2UP

A classic example of a pub conversation getting out of hand. A good friend was keen to re-create a suite of traditional pub games in a mobile friendly  format. '2up' was created to explore the idea. While the gameplay was admittedly very simple, I had great fun creating the scene and background characters which were inspired by an old workplace.

Stacked it!

Initially an exercise in learning the Aftereffects Puppet tool. I created this video after reading that a sprite in an side scrolling platform game should never exceed 10% of the screen height. I decided to see if this was always the case. Taking inspiration from games such as  'Bouncy! Trampoline' by Marcel Blanco, and 'Flappy Bird' 'Stacked it!' was the result.
